Random Rants of the day

1) I got quite irritated with this person who calls himself KS which I mentioned to my friend. Guess what she said which got me smiling again? “KS stands for Kiasu and Kanna Sai what.” Erm, not a jab at people whose initials are KS.

2) I have been trying to contact Wang Wang to inform him to speed up work on his side. And he has been ignoring my sms and msning. We are going to call him tomorrow. ShitASS!

3) Miss Mono-High-Pitch commented that I became very vulgar recently. I have been sprouting english vulgarities and their famous hokkien counterparts. I shall refrain from saying or using them now. But I am entitled to use it on this blog. wahaha. Only Real life and msn cannot use.

4) Mr Lim is a sweet guy. Everytime I encountered some problems with my blog or so, he will help me instantly. Awww! He is still currently dateless on V day. Go date him!

5) I put on 1 kg for CNY. WHich means I need to lose 5 kg. The other 4 kgs are the long ago leftover weight I was supposed to lose.

3rd day of CNY

This morning is like a ghost town.  I expected it. After all people do not wake up at 7 plus in the morning of a public holiday.

The train station is pleasantly quiet and quaint.

The entire row was empty. So many seats for once.

Spot the MRT irritant with the handphone plastered to his ear. Obviously the person third from the left. The whole train carriage was entertained by his voice throughout the trip. Definitely not pleasing at all.

Esp when I was grouchy from being unable to sleep in.

My friend in US msned me and told me she is coming back on 28th April. Of course I am glad since this meant that we can pig out together on indian food. And not forgetting to shop. WHich is precisely what we did last year.

I have been having second thoughts on whether I should really go to India. There are so many things holding me back even if it is for a few months.

My parents would prefer that I remain in Singapore
My tuition kids would have to have some other tutor to teach them for the few months. Loss of income from the tuition kids no doubt added on to my worries.

Cost of the trip.

But 2 things made me come to a decision straight away. Firstly, there was a news article about SM Goh encouraging Singaporeans to invest and do business in India.  Secondly, someone told me about AQ. Adversity Quotient and how this will be more important than EQ and IQ.
I want to make it. I want to prove that I can survive. I want to push beyond my comfort zone. I will suffer no doubt. Being mindful of my suffering will only push my desire for survival.

Wish me luck.

2nd Year of New Year

Looks like everybody grew sick of Chinese New Year after all this years.

This year for a change, we went to East Coast Medicentre to visit my grand-aunty. We bought oranges there although we are not supposed to give oranges this year. My aunty said that it looks weird for us not to give my grand-aunty any oranges when we visit her. And thus we broke tradition.

After which we went to my Big Auntie’s house for lunch. As usual, I spent this time to catch-up with my cousins. And we gorged ourselves on food again. I feel like I am having PMS the whole CNY season as I feel so bloated all the time.

And one of my cousin had gastric or some tummy ache and the whole family( I mean all the aunties and uncles) started nagging at her to eat her meals regularly. Moral of the story is not to get sick at family gatherings CAUSE your parents and their siblings ( your aunties and uncles) will nag at all. Super COMBO!

After which the extended family came over to my house to have dinner. And as hosts, we  have to offer new year goodies to our guests right?

My house this year happen to have moudly pineapple tarts. My mum realise that 2 pineapple tarts have grown moudly already. However she did not tell the rest of the family. Hence I went to serve moudly pineapple tarts to the guests before my mother confessed to us. And I think I better start praying for my relatives. Cause the mould apparently spread to the rest of the pineapple tarts and it was consumed!!!

Then I served some other cny goodies to my relatives before one of them said” eh, grow mould already.”

Luckily she was the first one I served.

Hence the rest of the goodies were thrown away.

WALAU. My year this year got so many mouldy goodies I also damn sian. Cause it means that the leftovers I cannot eat already.

And I have to entertain my younger cousins. WHich meant I have to sit through re-runs of movies. They nicknamed me “the entertainer.” How nice of them!

What Public Holiday?

Everybody can laugh at me now.

I got no holiday tomorrow.

:(

CNY syndromes

I am officially suffering from over-eating-of-pineapple-tarts-and-bak-kwa. And it is bad, cause my stomach seems to be forever bloated. After eating so much pineapple tarts and bak kwas, my mouth is sure to feel thirsy and bravo, drink lotsa soft drinks.

I am so going to gain 5 kg this festive season.

And as usual besides all the eating, we still have to say hallo and wish some greetings to our relatives. And relatives somehow have the thinking that we are deaf people (cause I am not supposed to hear what they say?) or they are blind people cause they can’t see ME in front of them.
” EH, did you see the Mrs LIm? How come she put on so much weight?”

EH, hallo. I am in front of you. I don’t think I put on weight eating glass which makes me transparent.

I am going to check myself in a gym after this festive period.

But I still have fun this CNY catching up with cousins. Like asking my blond hair cousin why he so ah beng. Playing guessing games with soft drinks and food being the forfeits. Playing with my baby cousins. Laughing loudly when we ask the younger relatives to guess our age.

“eh, guess Mrs LIm’s SIS ( not me! Haha! ) how old?”

28.

Everybody bursts out laughing.

“How come she is 28?”

“cause her face looks like a 8. ANd her hair tells us she is a 20 something years old.”

KIDS say the darnest things.

My CNY Eve

I spent my CNY Eve clearing my room. My room is still in a terrible mess and I only have time to clear it on the eve. Of course before clearing my room, I went to irritate my mother and ask her what we are having for reunion dinner later which I have been bugging her for the past few days.

This Year’s reunion dinner will be different

For once, we will not be having steamboat. Apparently we cannot eat steamboat for reunion dinner if someone passed away in our family in the past year.

Since my grandmum will be alone this year for reunion, we decided to join her instead. Thus my mum will be cooking and we will be bringing the food over to my grandmum’s house to eat with her. We are having roasted duck, sambal prawns and cauliflower. Maybe there will be xiao long baos and dumplings from ting dai fung if they are opened today and I am not too lazy. For dessert, there will be ice jelly. I missed steamboat somehow. Of course the celebration this year will be quite different.

I still have 1/20 of the book Memoirs of a Geisha to read before I finish. I am looking for a good time to read the book so as to indulge in the emotions of Sayuri. Now that I have read the book after watching the movie, I realised that some aspects are different. But book-to-movie adaptations are always different and it made me realise words are much more powerful than drama. My life illustrated in words here will be more entertaining than my real life.

Since Chinese New Year is around the corner, and you are reading me when you are supposed to be spring cleaning ( which is what I am supposed to do as well right now.), I shall leave you with a startling picture of my cousin who can make a lotus tongue or lian hua se as the chinese papers call it.

I used to see it in the chinese newspapers but it is more appalling seen in real life. I got a shock when my cousin showed it to me, after simply asking whether I can divide my tongue into 3 parts.

Cheap is good

Cheap is good, originally uploaded by mrslim.

Mr Lim said that my 2 bucks shirt will shrink after washing. It did not!

Cheap doesn’t mean it is lousy. It just means that it is better on the pockets and for a gian peng person.

My sis told me my shirt was nice. And everybody has eyes of goldfish when I told them it was 2 bucks.

Subway

Subway, originally uploaded by mrslim.

This is the best Subway which my friend had eaten. Not!!!! It hasn’t even been eaten and it looks like it has been dragged through the streets of bukit batok or something like that.
It doesn’t even look pleasing to eat. Wrapping subs is a skill which the person serving my friend obviously lack.

Happy CNY

Happy Chinese New Year to all!

I just heard something funny from my friend, cause I was reminding someone to return money to me before CNY. If not it is inauspicious.

Then my friend was recounting that someone owned her 10 bucks in sec sch. She asked the person to return it to her and the person said ” It is after CHinese New Year already so no need to return.”

Super WTF right?

10 bucks to a secondary school girl in my days is alot of money.

Then I cheekily asked my friend to lend me 1000 bucks.

So moral of the story is to return cash you own before chinese New year.

Old

I no longer have the energy to dress up for the night, booty-dance all night, drink all sorts of toxins into my body, slump myself at the back of the taxi, wake up with panda eyes and struggle to stay awake at work the next morning.

I am getting old.

But I shall pick up my dancing shoes and party the night away next friday. For a friend’s birthday.

I am semi-retired from the partying life.
